Iconic Docking Scene Recreated in Stunning Blender Animation
Doctor Orcinus, a passionate animator and LEGO enthusiast, has recreated the film’s intense docking sequence using Blender
A beloved scene from Interstellar has been given a new life—this time in LEGO form. Doctor Orcinus, a passionate animator and LEGO enthusiast, has recreated the film’s intense docking sequence using Blender, meticulously capturing every detail from spacecraft rotation to minifigure spacesuits. The video has already amassed over 180,000 views, highlighting the community’s love for both LEGO and cinematic tributes.
Starting in mid-2023, Orcinus embarked on this ambitious project, tackling challenges in 3D modeling, animation, rendering, and post-production. From the explosive detachment of the Ranger to the rotation of the Endurance, every aspect of the scene was painstakingly recreated. Even the planet in the background and the interiors of the Lander were rendered with attention to authenticity, giving viewers a fully immersive LEGO reinterpretation of the iconic sequence.
“I wanted to capture the intensity and emotion of this scene in LEGO form,” Orcinus explains. “Interstellar is one of the films that has moved me the most. Its story, visuals, and soundtrack left a lasting impact, and this video is my personal love letter to the movie—and to cinema in general.”
For the spacecraft models, Orcinus leaned on the creativity of the LEGO community. The Endurance, Ranger, and Lander were originally designed by paranoider on LEGO Ideas and assembled on Mecabricks by moguusgus, while the TARS and CASE robots were designed by Minibrick Productions. Orcinus made slight adjustments to these models to suit the animation, blending community designs with personal touches to bring the scene to life.
This LEGO recreation is not just a technical feat—it’s a celebration of storytelling, fandom, and the boundless creativity that emerges when different mediums collide. Fans of Interstellar and LEGO alike can witness a familiar cinematic moment in an entirely new light, proving that passion and attention to detail can transform even the smallest bricks into a grand spectacle.
